Overview:

For the USNS Seay, MDS was tasked with the design and engineering of two concurrent projects. The first being the modification of existing tankage for the additional storage of waste on board. Due to the ship’s location, within the Chagos Marine Protected Area, discharge of waste into these waters was prohibited in 2010 and facilitated the need for additional holding capacity on board the vessel. The second was the conversion of an existing compartment on board the vessel for storage of of equipment deemed hazardous. For this, MDS designed and created conversion drawings for the compartment while working with the USCG for approval of the intended storage contents.
